Yes.

Yes.  Any DOS above 3.0 will do.

DJGPP programs won't run on a 286, they need a 386 or better.  286 cannot 
run 32-bit code which DJGPP emits.

And you cannot disable DPMI, since DJGPP programs require DPMI to run.

GNU `indent' is one such program.  A DJGPP port is available in 
v2gnu/ind191b.zip.
