I didn't tried to run RHIDE under NT (I'm using it under Win95 and under
Linux). At first - does debugging with RHGDB.EXE work Ok under NT?
You can also try to run RHIDE under GDB and see if there is some
exception (DJGPP version of RHIDE tries to erases screen under crash,
if You'll run it under gdb You'll see what happens).

Some time ago I did some patches to RHIDE version 1.4.1 to make it more
stable. The more information is at:

I put there also precompiled binary of RHIDE.EXE, as it is not very easy 
to build it.
