In what way? I know it can be hard to describe things like this, but you
will have to try to give me some idea what the problem might be...

Use a bright pink color (maximum red and blue, zero green) for the
masked pixels. The documentation describes this in several places: see
the description of draw_sprite() or the truecolor pixel formats section.

Is this just your program, or do the Allegro tests and examples also
sometimes crash?
