This is because there is a bug in the assembler which makes it generate the
wrong code for this file. The precompiled .o file is included in the
distribution for precisely this reason. Also there is a patch to fix the
assembler, though it requires v2.8.1, I think.

That seems to be a typo in the source. Are you sure you have the latest
version of bcserio?
