this is too philosophical for me. is there a category of people called
"new guy".

since a lot of people (including me) started programming with djgpp as
their first c compiler, the short answer is "YES".

a better strategy for yourself is to post specific questions about
issues you need help with. also, if you already haven't got one, get a
good book on C or C++ (whichever you are interested in learning),
download the C and C++ faqs (you can find these by searching at yahoo)
along with the djgpp faq, and consult those when the need arises.
