Hi,

Sorry to bother you with my irrelevant questions, but I have a semantic one
to pose this time:

I see every here and there examples of code, using the prefixes FOO and BAR.

I always consider it merely identifiers, ignoring their semantic meaning,
but I've got curious lately.
Are these abbreviations or something? What are the originals of the
prefixes?

I can't sleep at night being aware of my ignorance. Save me please.

TIA

1. Take upon yourself an impossible mission.
2. Accomplish the mission.
3. Go back to step 1.

It's the only sane answer to modern life.
