Any differences between real mode and protected mode and how you should
port programs from rm to pm is covered in the FAQ. 

If your interrupt is a protected mode interrupt, you could access DOS
memory, through the _dos_ds selector, but for further information on how
to use protected mode interrupts see also Eli's FAQ.
