You will need to use trial and error to get to the right size, since
it depends on how the total memory allocated by your program is
divided into different-size chunks. A typical way is to enlarge the
number by a factor of 2 until your program stops failing due to memory
allocations.

Total amount of memory is not the issue. You should be able to
allocate 128MB in one call without changing anything in the CWSDPMI
parameters (use `calloc', not `malloc' to test that). It is the
allocation in small chunks that requires to bump the internal heap
size of CWSDPMI.
