Oh yes, lots of people have more detailed information on this.  Please see
questions 11.12 through 11.15 in the comp.lang.c FAQ, which you can
read at http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/C-faq/top.html.

The FAQ is a very good document; as someone else said here a while ago,
"I learn something new every time I look at it".  Though given my present
level of knowledge that's not too hard  :-)
