After I read your post, I added these lines, and it still behaves
exactly the same.

Also, I should have mentioned that I'm running Win95.  Does that
matter?

Sigh...I had hoped to put this time and effort into actually learning
C, not trying to get the compiler to run.  However, I realize that
whatever it is, it must be something I'm doing wrong.

I'll keep at it!
