Filesystem extensions are going to change a lot in the next DJGPP
release.  I suggest you download the next alpha version that will
include these changes (contact DJ Delorie to know when) and see that
(1) your work-around doesn't break because of the changes, and (2) the
bug you needed to work around is corrected there.

(Btw, did you report that bug here?)
