	It all depends on what you want to do.  Everyone in this newgroup who
does graphics has a favorite graphics library.  My favorite is Shawn
Hargreave's Allegro library.  It was designed to be a game-making
library (and is very well suited for that), but it is a general-purpose
library with a wide range of uses.  It is also very well documented and
supported by the author and users.  You can get it at:
