BASIC: an interpreted language that uses English-like syntax and a
linear programming model. Modern versions include QBASIC (QuickBASIC),
and the more powerful Visual BASIC. It's a good language for slopping
around in, because it is not procedure-oriented like C or Pascal.

guru: very knowledgeable person; master; swami.
