According to my docs, A is the base port for the SoundBlaster
portion of the card, P is the MPU401 port and E is the base port for
the EMU8000 (wavetable synthesiser).  Not all sound cards have all of
these options; most also have a T option to give the type of the card
(e.g. T6 is SB16).
