Options|Compiler|Debugging must be turned on.
Options|Compiler|Optimization  should be switched off, _all_
Optimizations, just to be sure. 
At least that should give you the chance to put a breakpoint
with ^F8. If you want to set a breakpoint under
Debug|Breakpoints|New you probably have to regard the C++
name mangling...
