Actually, there may be some legal issues. gnuplot, despite its name, is not
GNU. There was an unfortunate coincidence in the naming. This is their
copyright notice:
Permission to use, copy, and distribute this software and its
documentation for any purpose with or without fee is hereby granted,
provided that the above copyright notice appear in all copies and
that both that copyright notice and this permission notice appear
in supporting documentation.
Permission to modify the software is granted, but not the right to
distribute the modified code. Modifications are to be distributed
as patches to released version.
So I don't think I'd be allowed to package my modified version and put it on
Simtelnet. Also, considering I only did the port yesterday and only two
people have tried it, I don't really know if it's all that stable yet. It
looks like all I can do is send it to the gnuplot folks and see what they
think. And I'm not sure how happy they'll be about having their variables
renamed, which I had to do to coexist with Allegro. But it would sure be
nice if anyone wanted to test it! I can email my patch, about 25K.
