This brings back memories. :)

I did something similar with my C64, I *dismantled* :) a joystick and
used the wires to door sensors all around the house, I could tell when
parents came home and loads of other childish things. :)

Take an old joystick and *dismantle* it, then monitor the left, right,
up, down, fire1, fire2, etc,etc.
