Hello -

I have finally gotten a djgpp build of egcs. I have been fairly
time limited recently, and will continue to be in the future, so
I have not tested this compiler very thoroughly. I know that
it can recompile allegro, and that the example programs compile
OK and run.

I honestly spent weeks (probably only 20 hours total though)
hacking with the source code and with the
configure/makefiles just to get the stupid thing to build. This
is very different that the pre-egcs snapshots, where I could do
a complete build in under 30 minutes. That stated, all I have to
show for my efforts is just the base C compiler and libgcc. I have the
c++ parser also, but not the supporting libraries (egcs comes
with several additional packages beyond gcc), which I believe are needed.
There is also a g77
in the distribution but I haven't played with it either (although it
tried to build itself before it would build libgcc). I am
also unsuccessful at getting the ld/collect2 front end built (for
repository stuff), and am not sure if it will work anyway. Lastly,
I didn't enable the Haifa scheduler.

That stated - Is anyone interested in me putting this up on the
pgcc web site?? I don't have performance numbers on it, but I suspect
it to be slightly better. I know it has better AMD support (~10% speed
increase).

Andrew
