This is a good idea, but your benchmarks aren't particularly hot. Perhaps
a better benchmark to use would be LINPACK. This is a standard benchmark
in the supercomputer world, and really exercises the compiler's FPU
optimization. Try solving a 1000x1000 matrix with LINPACK, the memory
consumed alone would stress other parts of the system, not just the code
optimizer.
