I have no ideea how other file systems work. All I know is that the UNIX
file system or HPFS ot NTFS are light years beyond FAT and VFAT.
(and yes, in UNIX, an erased file is kinda erased for good)
maybe you could look at the linux sources? it has an unix file system...
