Subject: very slow while using vlm in upper memory

My (big) program is compiled with djgpp version 2.01 (the same problem
is while using 1.xx version).
It runs very slow (even 3 times) when vlm (and netware client software)
is loaded, even if it is running on local disk and I'm not logged to the
server.
It looks that file opening is very time consuming. My program has a lot
of files opened at the same time.
Everything is OK, when netx is used (previous version of netware client
software) or when vlm is loaded to the conventional memory (vlm /Mc).
Have you any explanation of this phenomena ?
