What I'm learning from this thread is that there are indeed varying tastes
among DJGPP users <grin>, and that probably makes life more interesting.

Personally I was delighted by info when I first discovered it as part of
the DJGPP package, and still that way a year later. As someone who uses a
keyboard without any other pointing device, I find the interface very
friendly.

Of course, I'm biased as an Emacs user: info is my "consistent user
interface" both within Emacs and elsewhere. Since Emacs is at the center
of my DJGPP experience, that's a vital role indeed.

One of the high points of installing a new package is being sure that the
Info documentation is in place and the dir file is updated.

Again, I realize that non-Emacs people may not be as excited as I am about
the way that Info supports interactive tutorials on Emacs packages.
Incidentally, those GNU documenters have lots of skill when it comes to
writing tutorials that are both fun and instructive.
