nobody has to look up your password. they set up an account at geocities
and give _your_  e-mail address (or in the previous case
djgpp AT delorie DOT com) as their contact address.

for the one that was sent to the mailing list i contacted geocities and
had them remove that account. so i would recommend contacting them. in
my message, i also suggested that they start logging account setup
transactions (if they have not done so already.) most of the time that
won't really do any good in tracking down anyone but can't hurt. 

a more troublesome one was the infonews or whatever account that was set
up to feed top news stories from international to sports to
djgpp AT delorie DOT com.

without a doubt some asshole was trying to spam the list big time.

i  would like to ask everyone to refrain from posting replies to
whatever spam finds its way here. instead, use your energy contacting
the companies, complain to the providers of the spammers, in short, do
something to stop it rather than contributing to it.
