	Your clue is right:

	ar rcs libmine.a mine1.o mine2.o mine3.o mine4.o

	This will create a library called libmine.a (if in the libpath
will be linkable as gcc -lmine) from the objects mine1.o - mine4.o.
	You can only do this with object files (*.o).
