Am I the only person who thinks that this whole FAQ debate (are all
newbies inherently stupid, or is djgpp just an evil plot to confuse
them) is becoming quite a tiresome FAQ in itself? The discussion
seems to have been going on more or less continually for the last
two years, and I've yet to see anyone reach a satisfactory
conclusion!

How about we just drop the issue? There is no point in shouting at
newbies, because by definition they haven't read this group before,
so no matter how much you tell them off there will always be a
new crop of equally confused newcomers showing up the next
day. Likewise it doesn't make sense to get annoyed when people
post FAQ references rather than specific answers: many people
think that this is a perfectly good way of providing assistance, and
if you disagree you are very welcome to start posting full and
comprehensive answers yourself...

Maybe this should be in the FAQ? :-)
