I have been editing Quake stuff for some time now and have been dev'ing
a 3D engine as well, and I have had to use a bunch of little tricks to
convert files to different formats. What I normally do is use a 3d
editing program to make my object, then I use Meddle (a quake MDL
viewer/processor, URL : http://www.phyast.pitt.edu/~brian/meddle/)
to convert the file into .raw format (raw 3d data in text), then I use
raw2c3d to convert the raw into the format I made for my 3d engine.
I think there are notes on raw files in the Meddle docs, if not you can
email me (to keep unrelated stuff out of the NG) and I can probably help
some more.
