There is a new version of Emm386, which among other things includes
all the most recent Novell updates.
It has cured practically all my problems and EMM386 has been gentle as
a lamb ever since I installed it.

It will be released in version 7.02 which is coming soon.
I don't think I should say any more than that.
There will be a proper anouncement when it is due.
