You can also use XPDF (which is free, works under X) or Ghostscript. New
versions (3.33 is what I have, 4.13 is already available) can also read
PDF, print them out, convert them to PostScript, or convert them to text. 
Adobe Acrobat Reader is HUGE, at least the UNIX version, I don't really
like it when XPDF is much smaller with mostly the same functionality.
