i am not a native speaker. however, it seems like most of the whining
comes from people with very anglo-american/canadian names/addresses.
further, most of them don't say "this is what i read and i do not
understand such and such". that is because they do not even read the
most basic instructions.

because i (and i presume the person you are replying to) would like to
feel that this is a place we can turn to when we need help with
substantial issues. and not a place where "how to compile c++" or "how
to unzip" is discussed over and over and over and over again. that is
why asking questions that have already been answered in the FAQ is
inappropriate in any newsgroup/mailing list on UseNet. you might want to
look at the faq for news:announce.new.users if you need further info.

the disrespect is in the act of not bothering to do any work themselves
(like reading README.1ST), then posting a gazillion "teach me" messages,
and then saying they were flamed because someone told them to read
README.1ST.

maybe someone should also write something that describes how to turn the
computer on, how to make chicken soup etc? you are essentially proposing
that each newsgroup should be responsible for teaching every single
_basic_ thing related to computing. you are welcome to write it, of
course ...
