I got the readme from pgcc and found the paragraph about the
binutils 2.8.1. It sounds for me (and probably also for the
others) that when they are installed you have to change the 
specs file. THIS IS NOT TRUE. (at least it was not planned by
me). Either I was unclear in the readme or something other
happened.

Normally the binutils should work exactly the same way like
binutils 2.7. If there are any problems with it (without changing
the specs file) please report them to me.

The changes in the specs file are described in the binutils readme
under the headline:

How to use the linker without the need of stubify?
==================================================

That means you have to change the specs ONLY when you want to use
the feature of ld by directly producing stubbed COFF executables.

BTW: This feature is in the DJGPP linker already since binutils 2.7
but probably nobody (except me) used it.
