I can't say for sure, since this terminal doesn't display the character in
question, but sometimes under Windows 95 the pipe characters get muddled
up; it depends on the keyboard layout. In RHIDE, the correct | character
will be highlighted in a different colour (white I believe) from the
normal text colour (yellow IIRC). With my keyboard layout, shift-\ gives
the wrong character (although it's right on the keyboard) and AltGr-`
(left of the 1 key) gives the correct symbol. Try it and see. This is a UK
keyboard BTW.  I think changing the codepage might help, too.
