I run QEMM (and QDPMI) and DesqView, and from what I've heard that's
not very safe with OPENDOS.  The EMM386 bugs are major as far as I'm 
concerned and by themselves make me wary.  If I had time (i.e. no
job!) I'd be interested in tracking down the problems and fixing them,
but what I need (rather than would like) is a system which works...
