Without specific data, it's hard to say, but best guess is that there's
something in your autoexec.bat that is halting the execution before it
gets to the lines you've added.  A common occurrence is when calls to
other batch files are included in autoexec.bat; DOS is too stupid to know
it's wiser to spawn (e.g., keep executing the original batch file when
you're finished) than not.
