this is not GCC normal behaviour. Normally (if you use -Wall which is
VERY useful!) you will get something like Warning: implicit declaration
of function XXX then (no -Wall required) you will get an error from the
linker like error:undefined reference to XXX.
If you don't get these error messages then maybe you are using GCC in
combination with a windoze package like RSXDJ? (that would explain the
linker's 'misses' as the liker must resolve DLL calls);
