What a source!!!

Does your magic number 65536 mean, that you also have 65536 functions
in that source file (or in other source files)?

If not, lets say you have only 1000 functions so there are many
pointers to the functions are duplicated and I think using
a 'case' construction would save at first space and at second
you will go probably not to that COFF limitation.

BTW: This is only a hint, I have not tried it because
I can't imagine a situation where 65536 function pointers
are needed.

As already said by others, this is not a DJGPP limitation
but a COFF object format limitation because the number
of relocation entries is limitet to fit in an 'unsigned short'.
