I'm working on an animation package with DJGPP and Allegro. The most   
important thing is that you must adjust the DOS box properties, and set   
the DPMI memory to 65535. (not auto).

Sometimes my framerate drops to 6 or 7, this is normally around 40-50.   
Then start the program again, and it's normal again. this happens abt.   
every 20 times executing the program, and I cannot explain it...
