Couldn't resist jumping in. 

IMHO: Rhide is one of the nicest things in djgpp. It tends to 
keep me away from emx , cygnus , and other alternatives.

(Okay - Allegro is pretty cool also )

The Linux programming environment will be also become 
much friendlier as the kinks continue to be worked out of
the rhide port to Linux.
