The default compilation of ls.exe defaults to non-colorized output.  To
get color, you must pass ls the '-color' parameter, as follows:

  --color=none		Do not use color at all (default)
  --color=auto		Only use color if stdout is a terminal
  --color=always	Always use color

Please read the documentation before complaining; it's right there under
"info ls general".
