First off there are two ways of doing this:

A) Use the sources as example code, and find other sources from the
net... there is tons of
it about, just go to altavista and do a search with something like:
Win95 +example +code, and
your bound to find some useful stuff

B) Go buy a book by Charles Petzold, called Programming Windows, it is
written for 3.1 but
still has a good amount on the message queues and the methods.  This
will get you motoring
along writing apps... 

Some people are fine with A, or B alone, a hybrid method of both A&B may
bring satisfactory
results, but remember to take the price of the book into the equation.

Once you have found your way up the learning curve you will be in more
of a position to find
the references specific to your needs.

And by the way, I hate Microsoft, Windows, and everything they stand
for, and by the time you 
have finished reading this statement, they will have probably bought the
rights to it.
