In addition to using -O6 for pentium optimizations, it is also recommended that you use -mpentium to take advantage of pentium specific optimizations... Perhaps this may increase your frame rate. Also, are you using the 3D funcs of Allegro? That would easily explain why you don't get increased performance, as your alleg lib is pre-compiled.
