And you can't see this text, right? You aren't going to like this, but
it works fine for me!

And you figure the problem is to do with the mouse pointer being
visible? Ie. if you remove the show_mouse() call, it works ok? Are you
sure that the graphics mode is being set correctly here? Try checking
the return value from set_gfx_mode(): it will indeed crash if that is
failing for some reason...

Also, you don't need to pass a screen resolution when restoring the text
mode: I automatically put it back to whatever mode it was in before
Allegro took over. That doesn't explain your problem, though, because
the parameters are just ignored...
