Look at the version numbers of the packages. Nearly every DJGPP package
got an updated version in the upgrade to v2.01. You do not _have_ to
get a completely new distribution, but it is highly recommended. The
primary reason is that the handling of long command lines was changed in
v2.01, and therefore v2.01 programs cannot pass long command lines to
v2.00 ones. This can break many programs, particularly RHIDE and GNU
Make. Additionally, the handling of long filenames under Win95 was
greatly improved, so if you have Win95 and like working from a DOS
shell, you should update any programs that you use regularly. Another
new item is the DJGPP Knowledge Base, which lists among other things the
changes made from v2.00 to v2.01. The KB is available online from
<http://www.delorie.com/djgpp/>.

On average, it's best to get a completely new distribution, even if it
means a fair bit of download time.

Good luck!
