Another misconception, IMHO.  Emacs binary distribution is only 4
1.4MB zip files.  Compare that to any other package with similar
functionality (e.g., one of the popular word processors) and the
conclusion is obvious.

The full Emacs distribution is indeed about 50MB uncompressed, but
that's with full sources, including some sources that you only need on
specific machines.  Comparing that with commercial packages where you
don't get the sources at all produces a very unbalanced picture.
