Only thing that bothers me is the subjects people use for the threads.
I can see 3 threads below this one titled "Allegro" , how do I know what
the poster is having problems with??
I scroll down and see some with no title at all.
Even some with "Help please". Help with what???
Here's an example "640x480 res. in DJGPP?" Is the poster using the
Allegro library?? If not I can't help them. Should I DL the article and
risk wasting money. I know it's not a lot of money, but if you add up
several threads, over several weeks it mounts up.
I subscribe to quite a few groups, I browse through the latest news
subjects looking for stuff interesting to me, including stuff I might be
able to help with. I have to be careful with what I DLoad, phone bills
are dear enough here.
Point being, wouldn't it at least be an idea to post some kind of
comp.os.msdos.djgpp posting guide FAQ thing, once a week.
Titled NEWBIES: ***Please read this before posting.***
Something like adding a subject title.
ALLEGRO: Scrolling, how??
ALLEGRO: Sprites, won't rotate.
C: Structs, mixing float and ints??
MIKMOD: Loading a .mod file??
DJGPP: Can't compile anything.
My newsreader doesn't allow me to sort the threads by subject, BUT if
anybody elses does this would/should be a big aid in browsing through
all the threads. S/he could skip past all the Allegro stuff if they
didn't know anything about it.
Then look through all the unsorted stuff to see if there's anything in
there.
They could even put a kill on any Allegro threads, if they didn't want
them.
If at least 75% of all postings we're like this it would make browsing
the newsgroup a lot easier. Wouldn't it??????
Just an idea. ;-)
