Whoa there.  This is only useful if he intends to reboot to DOS7 using
a DOS MODE short cut -- practically the same as if he had booted up
from an old DOS bootdisk.  In this case, he'll need to have CWSDPMI
installed since win95 is pretty much out of the picture and can no
longer supply DPMI support.

If he wants to compile under win95 with DJGPP, he just needs to create
an autoexec.bat with the two lines listed above and place it in the
root directory as you described.  He can then compile with a DOS
Prompt (aka. DOS Box, DOS Window, etc) with win95 supplying DPMI and
no need to reboot.  No config.sys is necessary here. 

If anyone knows of a way to modify the environment variables under
win95 without using an autoexec.bat, that'd probably be even better.
