LS Bakker (sjoerd AT rocketmail DOT com) has been working on a GIF loader, and
I believe was also doing some JPEG stuff. I don't know how close he is
to releasing it, but it would be worth mailing him to ask...

I'm not planning on merging this support into the main Allegro lib, due
to the legal restrictions involved with the Unisys patent on the LZW
compression algorithm.I don't want to put any non-free code in Allegro,
so I think this will have to stay as an optional add-on package...
