I had problems whereby examples 20 to 25 suddenly didn't work anymore
after I reinstalled my HD. 

Turns out it was due to an old copy of cwsdpmi.exe (version 1) in the
path
before the  latest version. The Allegro 2.2 demo and lots of examples
die
with version 1.
