g77 needs to be built ON TOP OF gcc sources.  Even if I built gcc
2.7.2.2, it wouldn't help you, because you'd have to get gcc 2.7.2.2
sources, apply the g77 sources and patches, and build gcc itself
(which would then support g77 as well).
