Try Stacker (the original program) - it's offered with the FREE
OpenDOS 7.01 (http://www.caldera.com) ! It will work better !

The CMOS memory, which contains the setup, has certainly random data in it
- there must have been a serious crash recently...
Maybe changing any setup will force the BIOS to write the changes correctly
(with checksum) to the CMOS memory.
If the HD refuses to work, it must be because the HD type announced 
in the setup is wrong.
