Do you mean to say that you only use DJGPP programs and nothing else?  
Most people *do* use non-DJGPP programs, and when they need to redirect 
their stderr or see their exit code, it doesn't make sense to tell them 
to use other redirection means.  So I think `redir' should be able to be 
used with both DJGPP and non-DJGPP programs alike.
